Life and Death. A counsel for us

Posted by admin Saturday, April 24, 2010

Life and death are two natural moments happening to all creatures. Each creature will have a time to enjoy life, as he will have a time to feel death.
Why there are life and death? It is fundamental question, and the answer of it decides one’s meaning of life as well of death. The uncertainly answer to that question above reflects the uncertainly life, even also the meaningless death.
Allah The Holiest makes those things as a device to test anyone of us who has the best deeds. (67:2) “That He may try which of you is best in deed”. In that verse, why doesn’t it say “those who have great deeds (aktsaru a’mala)”, but it says “those who have best deeds (ahsanul a’mala”)?
Quantity influences only if its substantial variables fulfills the terms of quality. A man, who contributes one million rupiahs sincerely from the bottom of his deepest heart, just expecting God’s mercy, will be more qualified than someone who contributes ten more insincerely.
When the quality of sincerity is given in the same way, then the one, who contributes greatest, contributes best as well. Then once again, the major determinant factor in someone’s life and death phase depends on the terms that have best deeds, not the greatest.

A one-hundred-years-old man doesn’t mean he is better than a sixty-years-old man. Making a wish for long life in every birthday party may be the best popular wish, and it shows that how we are always stuck on the quantity trap. Ironically, one of indicators of the healthy development success refers to the long life expectation, which means it thrusts the quantity of life.
Living in the quantity trap will always see death as something tragic and sad. In fact, wish words said; ‘Don’t be sad cause of death but be sad cause of having no foothold to death’.
Our age is in Allah’s hand. Medical profession, for example, can’t extend our age or even shorten it. Medic is just a role to present the best medical effort for human. After it presented, just Allah who decides He will extend or shorten someone’s life. In the heaven, Allah will not ask how long someone lived, and He will not decide the criteria of someone’s dignity based on age.
Now it is the time for us to return to the essence of life and death as a scenario from Allah to test anyone who has best deeds and best effort. Only by those essences we could talk about the praised life and the honored death. Arafah.
